FAQ
What is LaserTagGear.com?
LaserTagGear.com is a repository of information for laser tag gear. The first cataloguing of gear started in 1996 when I started making
laser tag gear pages. The first database-driven laser tag gear pages wouldn't happen until 2004. With all that experience, I am
working hard to make this site truly shine.
Is LaserTagGear.com meant to replace all the other gear sites out there?
In one word, NO. I am working hard to make sure that LaserTagGear.com does not step on any toes when it comes to other people's websites
who talk about particular brands of Laser Tag gear.
How often is LaserTagGear.com updated?
While currently being made there are near-daily updates to some core of LTG from code to database. Once done, however, most updates will
come from gear submissions/corrections/additions. There will be ways to view the last added items and possibly even the last
corrections.
Why do I need to register?
Registration is only needed if you are interested in submitting gear. For general searching
and browsing no registration is needed.
How do I submit gear?
You can submit gear by clicking on the Submit link on the left menu. Just follow the steps and fill out the
appropriate fields. You can also submit corrections and fill out additional info for gear.
What do you classify as a gear?
This is actually a very tough question. I classify a single piece of gear as an operational stand-alone item that can
interact with other items.
What is the inventory?
The inventory is where you can keep track of what gear you own that is listed on the site. You are able to even add
sets of gear and they will show up as both individually listed and as sets that you own.
How do I submit an image?
Currently you are going to have to send it to me via email for the time being. The preferred format and size would be
jpg and at least 1024 x 768. The higher the resolution you can get, the better, though. Also, when the submit page is
finally up, one of the image requirements would be to have the piece of gear by itself on a background (table, desk, etc.)
with no other objects near it. This allows focus on just the item and no distraction from other objects. You can take group
gear shots if you wish, but please have at least one shot of each gear type by itself. You can send images to webmaster AT lasertaggear DOT com.
Also include your username so I know who to credit.
Why does the java chat say "Erroneous Nickname"?
This is due to the fact that your display name might contain some characters that the java chat does not like. Please ensure that your name
only has alphanumeric characters in it and try connecting again.
Java chat is requesting additional privileges. Is it safe?
I assure you the java chat room is safe to install and run.
